Companies that Have Taken the Fair Chance Business Pledge
These companies understand the important contribution businesses can make to give a fair chance to all applicants, to ensure that information regarding an applicant’s criminal record is considered in proper context, and to engage in hiring practices that do not unnecessarily place jobs out of reach for those with criminal records. Specifically, they commit to:
Banning the Box by delaying criminal history questions until later in the hiring process;
Training human resources staff on making fair decisions regarding applicants with criminal records;
Ensuring internships and job training are available to individuals with criminal records;
Using reliable background check providers to help ensure accuracy;

The Fair Chance Business Pledge reflects a company's stated willingness to consider qualified applicants with criminal histories. It is not a hiring guarantee for any category of offense. Each company independently determines its own hiring criteria, background check policies, and eligibility standards.
This list is not exhaustive. Companies that have taken the Fair Chance Business Pledge have, at a minimum, acknowledged a willingness to consider justice-involved individuals. Applicants should research each employer's specific policies before applying.
Key Distinctions: Sex Offenses and Fair Chance Hiring
Fair chance hiring does not override public safety obligations. The following applies to all employers listed:
Individualized Assessment: Fair chance employers are expected to evaluate the nature of the conviction, the time elapsed, and the specific duties of the position before making any hiring decision.
Safety Exception: Employers retain the right to deny employment if hiring would pose an unreasonable risk to people or property. This applies to all conviction types, including sex offenses.
Position-Specific Restrictions: Many industries that signed the pledge, including healthcare, transportation, education, and retail, maintain roles that cannot legally be filled by individuals on the sex offender registry, such as positions involving children, elderly, or in-home care.
Taking the Fair Chance Business Pledge does not mean a company will automatically hire any individual with a sex offense conviction. All listed employers maintain full discretion over their hiring decisions.
